SoNoPo: Southern Nordic Pole Walking
Originally cross-country skiers used their ski poles in the summer on
strenuous walks to keep their aerobic and strength level up ‘til
winter. Then a special set of poles with hand “gloves” was developed
by a team of doctors and athletes in Finland in 1997 and Nordic Poles
were born. Nordic Pole Walking burns more calories, increases oxygen
consumption and can be up to 46% more body efficient than conventional
fitness walking. Introducing the poles into your walk turns your walk
into a total body workout by adding the benefit of strength training
for the upper body and increasing the heart rate significantly enough
to achieve a cardiovascular workout. Class sessions are $150 and meet
for six weeks, 2x/week in spring, fall and winter seasons. Contact
instructor for current schedule at 678.665.9926 or email us here. More info at Meetup.
